Boston-based Product Designer

About

Scientist · archaeologist · UX Designer

I started out as a hardcore scientist, sprouting from the organic chem labs at MIT and determined to save the world one artificially-built protein at a time.

And then I took a history class.

As interesting as it was to do real lab work, I found that the level of rigor required for scientific work actually stunted creative thoughts. I was more drawn to the constant, deep analytical thinking required by historical study.

Archaeology was a way to incorporate my scientific background into my new field of study--I could use scientific thinking to understand people.

Sadly, the interaction part was a bit one-sided.

But then, my sister took me to an “Intro to UX” workshop at General Assembly in Boston, and I was sold. I can use my research skills, I get to think deeply and creatively, I get to interact with and understand living people, and I get the satisfaction of making something that people want.

I’m still determined to improve the world, one well-designed product at a time.
